The Saudi Railways Company (SAR) has expanded the operational plan for the Haramain High-Speed Train during Ramadan 2025, according to Gulf News.
The company has increased the number of trips and available seats to accommodate the growing demand for travel between Mecca and Medina.
Therefore, SAR announced that the number of trips will increase to 3,410, representing a 21 percent rise compared to 2024.
In collaboration with the Saudi-Spanish Railway Project Company, the operator of the high-speed rail service, the company stated that the number of available seats will also grow by 18 percent, reaching nearly 1.6 million.
This expanded operational plan seeks to boost mobility and provide pilgrims and visitors with a smoother journey during Ramadan.
In the first week of Ramadan, the daily schedule will start with 100 trips per day. Consequently, it will grow to 120 trips by the 14th of the fasting month. Meanwhile, it will reach 130 trips per day during peak travel days.
As one of the 10 fastest trains in the world, the Haramain High-Speed Train operates at a speed of 300 kilometres per hour along a 453-kilometre railway line. Furthermore, it connects Mecca, Jeddah, King Abdulaziz Airport, King Abdullah Economic City, and Medina.
