Saudi Arabia has handed over 330 newly constructed housing units in Tunisia’s Ben Arous governorate, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The step marks a significant milestone in a promising social housing initiative supported by the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD).
To celebrate the achievement, both countries held a delivery ceremony overseen by Saudi Ambassador to Tunisia Abdulaziz Al-Saqr and Tunisian Minister of Equipment and Housing Sarah Zaafrani.
Crucially, the housing units represent a part of the initial phase of a larger project designed basically to provide 4,715 social housing units across multiple Tunisian governorates.
Backed by $150 million in concessional financing from the SFD, the initiative stands as a testament to the Kingdom’s dedication to supporting Tunisia’s development efforts.
Tunisian Minister Zaafrani expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Saudi government for its unwavering support and pivotal role in promoting living conditions and boosting economic growth.
Commenting on the occasion, Al-Saqr congratulated the beneficiary families, underscoring the Kingdom’s commitment to improving quality of life through sustainable development initiatives.
Moreover, he highlighted Saudi Arabia’s ongoing support for main sectors in Tunisia, especially housing and health care, through funding offered by the SFD.
