Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Metrology (NCM) emphasized that the reports predicting a harsh and prolonged winter linked to the La Niña phenomenon are inaccurate, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Represented by the Regional Climate Change Center, the center clarified that what is being circulated in some social media platforms about the upcoming winter is not true.
NCM also stated that forecasts indicate a winter season around the normal average, with a slight increase of up to one degree Celsius in some areas.
It urged all people to take climate-related information only from official sources and ignore individual opinions that might cause some confusion.
Moreover, the center stressed the significance of official climate and weather information, as it is closely linked with numerous life activities, development programs, and events held in the Kingdom.
NCM confirmed that such individual statements do not represent the regulatory directions adopted by the Kingdom.
