Wednesday’s Weather: Heavy Thunderstorms, Flash Flood Risk

The National Center of Meteorology expects thunderstorms to continue from medium to heavy, leading to torrential rains in its weather report for Wednesday.

The report highlighted, “moderate to heavy thunderstorms will persist with torrential rains, hail showers, and active winds that limit horizontal visibility in parts of the regions of Najran, Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Mecca, and Medina.”

Moreover, the report added that fog may form in the highlands of these areas.

Heatwave in the Eastern Region

In contrast, the report warned of the continuation of the heatwave in parts of the Eastern Region, with temperatures expected to rise between 47-48 degrees. This heatwave will start at 11 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m.

Surface Winds in the Red Sea

However, the Center pointed out that the surface winds in the Red Sea are blowing west to northwest at a speed of 15-38 km/h in the northern part. Furthermore, the winds are blowing southwest to northwest at a speed of 15-35 km/h and could potentially exceed 60 km/h with the formation of rainy thunderstorms in the central and southern parts.

Nevertheless, the weather report added wave heights range from 0.5 to 1.5 meters, possibly exceeding 3 meters with the formation of rainy thunderstorms in the central and southern parts, leading to light to medium waves.

Surface Winds in the Arabian Gulf

Additionally, the Center mentioned that surface winds in the Arabian Gulf are moving northwest to west at a speed of 10-30 km/h, with wave heights between 0.5 and 1 meters, resulting in light sea conditions.
