King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Vegetation Cover Development Foundation “Morooj,” reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The MoU has set the following objectives:
- Boosting the role of volunteers in vegetation development inside the reserve
- Organizing and implementing seed dispersal initiatives and tree-planting projects
- Fostering cooperation preparing research and writing scientific papers
The reserve stated that the current cooperation with Morooj reflects its commitment to strengthening its cultural, educational, and environmental roles across the Kingdom.
The signing ceremony highlighted the presence of the Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen AlFadley.
King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Natural Reserve is the largest natural reserve in Saudi Arabia.
Spanning over 130,000 km², the reserve is widely known for its pure refreshing nature, soothing air, geographic and heritage diversity.
Located in the north of Saudi Arabia beside the Jordan-Saudi Arabia borders, the reserve boasts a variety of animals that reaches up to three hundred species including rare deer and other wild animals.
Furthermore, it contains 14 geographic formations of mountains, plains, and plateaus, among others.
It encompasses four provinces: Hail Region, Tabuk Region, Al Jawf, and the Northern Borders Region.
The reserve aspires to be a prestigious eco-tourism destination that promotes the Saudi natural and cultural heritage and greatly contributes to the sustainable development of local communities.
