The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) convened the 20th meeting of the Aviation Program Activation Steering Committee in Riyadh on Wednesday, where it reviewed key operational achievements within the aviation sector.

The meeting was chaired by GACA President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, with the attendance of Vice Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Rumaih Al-Rumaih, Assistant Minister Ahmed Alhassan, along with CEOs and representatives from national companies and airlines. Moreover, Tibah Airports Operation Company hosted and organized the session.

Al-Duailej emphasized the sector’s effective response to recent global challenges, noting the successful implementation of contingency plans that demonstrated the resilience and growth of air traffic operations.

He revealed that between February 28 and May 3, Saudi Arabia accommodated over 2,000 flights from neighboring countries through multiple airports, transporting more than 258,000 passengers while ensuring smooth operations and an improved travel experience.

During the peak of the crisis, airport performance remained strong, with more than 12.1 million passengers handled across the Kingdom from the start of Ramadan through the ninth day of Shawwal.

Al-Duailej also highlighted that Saudi airports have maintained their position among the world’s top 100 airports for the fifth consecutive year, with four airports collectively receiving 14 Skytrax awards for 2026.

On the topic of Hajj services, he also called on aviation sector personnel to intensify their efforts and maximize available resources to provide exceptional services for pilgrims, reinforcing the Kingdom’s leading role in serving Hajj and Umrah visitors.
