Al-Baha Almond Season Thrives Amid Vibrant Blossoms
In Saudi Arabia’s southwestern region of Al-Baha, winter transforms the landscape into a breathtaking scene, with almond trees adorning gardens and parks in shades of white and pink. This year’s almond blossom season is particularly striking, thanks to ideal weather conditions that have encouraged lush, vibrant blooms.
Local farmers are nurturing the trees with care, hopeful for a bountiful harvest. Almond cultivation, a cherished tradition in Al-Baha, is a cornerstone of the local economy, generating jobs for farmers and fostering agricultural trade. The enchanting almond blossoms also serve as a magnet for tourists, boosting the region’s growing ecotourism industry.
Almond trees flourish across the Sarawat Mountains in Al-Baha and the governorates of Baljurashi, Al Mandaq, and Bani Hassan. According to farmers, a single tree can produce approximately 200 kilograms of almonds per season.
The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture’s local branch has played a pivotal role in advancing almond farming. Through investment initiatives and educational workshops, the ministry has empowered farmers with valuable knowledge and opportunities to expand cultivation efforts.
