The Riyadh Art Program has unveiled the participating artists at the 6th Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Set to take place at ROSHN Waterfront (RWF), the event will run from January 15 to February 8, 2025.
Themed “From Time to Time: The Pleasure of the Journey in Its Difficulties,” the event will feature a follow-up exhibition displaying the completed sculptures from February 12 to 24.
As a flagship project of the Riyadh Art Program, the Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium aims to boost artistic and cultural exchange through promising partnerships, workshops, as well as panel discussions. Furthermore, it seeks to integrate artistic practices into Riyadh’s cultural landscape.
Crucially, the registration process has witnessed a noticeable turnout with more than 750 applications from 80 countries around the world.
Consequently, an independent committee of art and sculpture experts has evaluated the applications and then selected 30 artists from 23 countries.
Those artists will take part in creating public art sculptures using stones from the Kingdom to be part of the cultural artistic scene in Riyadh.
The sixth edition will be curated by architect and artist Sebastián Betancur-Montoya and sculpture specialist Dr. Manal Al-Harbi.
“We celebrate the constant challenges faced by artists this year. These challenges are a major source of inspiration, allowing everyone to create a legacy that bridges the past, present, and future in innovative and humane ways,” Betancur-Montoya said.
