At the AlUla Archive and Manuscript Restoration Centre, the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) adopts specialized preservation practices for safeguarding historical manuscripts and documents, helping ensure that these records remain protected and sustainable over the long term.
Managed by RCU, the centre seamlessly blends specialized expertise with precise scientific methods to preserve and document historical materials.
Remarkably, its work helps safeguard these records while keeping them accessible to future generations.
Supporting this mission, the King Abdulaziz Foundation (Darah) provided the technical equipment and specialized tools needed to carry out restoration and preservation work.
Empowering AlUla’s Heritage Talent
During its initial phase, RCU successfully brought the centre into full operation, opening the door for AlUla’s national talent to play a pivotal role in heritage preservation.
More tellingly, scholarship program graduates are taking part in conservation and digitization work, gaining practical experience while the centre’s training programs offer the skills required to preserve, restore, document, and digitize archival materials.
