
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Central Islamic Council of Thailand (CICOT) during the third Makkah Halal Forum, held at the Makkah Chamber Exhibitions and Events Center.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of several senior officials, including Advisor at the Royal Court and Member of the Council of Senior Scholars Sheikh Dr. Saad bin Nasser Al-Shathri; Minister of Commerce Majid Al-Kassabi; Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) Dr. Saad Al-Kasabi; SFDA CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Halal Center Dr. Hisham Aljadhey; and Chairman of the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and President of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development Abdullah Saleh Kamel.

The MoU was signed by CEO of the Saudi Halal Center Eng. Abdulaziz Al-Rashoudi and Secretary General of CICOT Maj. Gen. Surin Palare.
The agreement seeks to enhance cooperation between the two parties and advance the global halal ecosystem. By strengthening the sector’s international position, the partnership also aims to boost halal trade, contribute to economic diversification, and create broader access for halal products in global markets.

The collaboration also supports the Saudi Halal Center’s mission to position the Halal Mark as a globally recognized and trusted standard. In addition, it expands the international reach of the Halal Academy by promoting professional training and capacity building, thereby reinforcing global confidence in halal products.
Through this initiative, the SFDA continues to broaden its regional and international footprint, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s leadership in developing high-standard, reliable halal systems and ensuring that halal products remain competitive and trusted worldwide.
