The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has warned against Country Butcher Boy beef pepperoni, manufactured in the UAE, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Lab tests noted that the 250-gram packages with an expiration date of March 1, 2025, are contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This bacterium causes serious health risks.
Accordingly, the SFDA has advised the public not to consume the product and to get rid of any units they may have.
Crucially, the officials have taken several steps to remove the contaminated product from the market. Moreover, they are pursuing a regulatory action against the importing company.
It is worth mentioning that violating food laws can cause severe penalties such as up to 10 years in prison, fines of up to SR10 million ($2.6 million), or both.
The SFDA has emphasized its commitment to food safety and will continue taking action against violators.
The authority also noted that consumers can report food safety concerns to the SFDA’s call center at 19999.
