Saudi Health Advises Umrah Pilgrims to Take Meningitis Vaccine

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health has advised Umrah pilgrims who will perform their spiritual rituals during Ramadan to get the meningitis vaccine at least 10 days before travelling to Mecca.

The health authorities urged all pilgrims to swiftly take the vaccine in order to boost their immunity against infections. Such infections may be transmitted in crowded places.

In this context, the ministry clarified that the vaccine provides protection for five years, according to Gulf News.

Therefore, such preventive measures enhance personal and collective protection and maintain public health during the Umrah season.

Crucially, the ministry noted that those who got vaccinated in the past five years do not need to receive the vaccine again.

Furthermore, the authorities advised worshippers to abide by preventive measures for instance washing hands regularly and wearing a face mask in crowded places.
