During the call, the two ministers discussed Saudi-Brazilian relations and ways to enhance them. In addition, they discussed developments in regional and international issues of mutual interest, including the situation in Gaza.
Saudi-Brazilian Relations
Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the President of Brazil, arrived in Riyadh last November for an official visit, marking a significant moment in the Saudi-Brazilian relations. The trip highlighted the potential for increased economic and cultural cooperation. Upon his arrival at King Khalid International Airport, the President was welcomed by Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh.
Strengthening Economic Ties
One of the primary focuses of Brazil’s president in Riyadh was to bolster economic relations. KSA, known for its vast oil reserves, presents numerous opportunities for Brazil. Additionally, President Lula da Silva engaged in high-level talks aimed at enhancing trade agreements and exploring new investment opportunities.
Cultural and Political Engagement
Moreover, beyond economics, this visit also served as a platform for cultural and political dialogue. Brazil and KSA share interests in various global issues. President da Silva’s presence in Riyadh facilitates deeper discussions on topics such as climate change, and regional stability. This visit could pave the way for more collaborative efforts in international forums.
