Saudi Arabia’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) will offer training courses for workers in the two holy mosques to enable them to handle weather situations during the upcoming seasons of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan and the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage.
According to the NCM, the courses basically target employees of the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, Gulf News reported.
With a bold goal to foster the workers’ readiness, the training will primarily upgrade effective responses against weather phenomena. That is why the courses will concentrate on the groups concerned with crisis and risk management, security and safety, awareness media as well as crowd management.
Therefore, they will ensure the safety and comfort of million worshippers in both mosques.
Titled “Methods of Responding to Weather Phenomena in the Two Holy Mosques and the Centre’s Programmes and Services”, the training initiative represents a significant collaboration between NCM and the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques.
Expected to start this year on March, the holy month of Ramadan marks the peak of the Umrah season. It is worthy to note that in 2024, approximately 1.8 million Muslims performed Hajj in and around Mecca.
