Saudi Arabia Leads in E-Government Services 2023
Saudi Arabia has secured the top spot in the E-Government Service Maturity Index for 2023. This achievement reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to digital transformation and the support it receives from its leadership. Saudi Arabia maintained its position for the second consecutive year with a high maturity score of 93%.
Government Digitalization Efforts Recognized
The Governor of the Digital Government Authority, Engineer Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Suwaian, attributed this international achievement to the concerted efforts of government entities. He emphasized the support provided by the visionary leadership to achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in building a digital society and investing in new technologies to increase productivity and efficiency.
UN ESCWA E-Government Service Maturity Index
The UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) ranks 17 countries annually based on the maturity of 84 priority e-government services. Saudi Arabia excelled in all indicators, showing significant progress compared to 2022. Notably, the country achieved a remarkable maturity score of 98% in service availability and development, a 1% increase from the previous year.
Improvements in Service Usage and User Satisfaction
Saudi Arabia also demonstrated improvement in service usage and user satisfaction, with a maturity rate of 84%, marking a 4.76% increase from 2022. Additionally, the country achieved a perfect score of 100% in the public access indicator, indicating significant progress compared to 2022 with a 13.52% increase.
E-Government Service: Global Recognition and City Rankings
Recent achievements place Saudi Arabia third globally out of 198 countries in the Digital Government Maturity Index 2022 by the World Bank. The country also attained its highest historical score in the UN E-Government Development Index. Furthermore, Riyadh ranked fourth globally in technology usage and applications among 193 cities worldwide.
E-Government services modernize governance, improve service delivery, and enhance transparency and accountability. They offer accessibility and convenience. They streamline administrative processes, leading to efficiency and cost savings. Digital platforms enable faster response times.
