Saudi Arabia has expressed strong condemnation of the Israeli airstrike which targeted Al-Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, taking it out of service, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the Kingdom strongly condemns the “heinous crime” committed by the Israeli troops in bombing Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in the Gaza Strip.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia reiterated its firm rejection of this attack, which represents “a blatant violation of all international laws and norms, including international humanitarian law.”
In the light of this, the Kingdom called on the international community to assume its responsibility to stop the repeated violations against civilians. It also warned of the collapse of the healthcare system in Gaza as a result of Israel’s continued breach of all international laws and norms.
On early Sunday, two Israeli missiles hit Al-Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, destroying the emergency and reception departments alongside other structures. The strike left one patient dead as he failed to receive urgent care during evacuation.
The Baptist Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East, which runs the hospital, strongly denounced the assault, which coincided with the Palm Sunday, a commemoration of Jesus’ entry to Jerusalem and the beginning of the Holy Week.
“We call upon all governments and people of goodwill to intervene to stop all kinds of attacks on medical and humanitarian institutions,” the Baptist Church said in a statement.
