Saudi Arabia Bars Food Trucks in Residential Areas

As part of Saudi Arabia’s wider efforts to ensure public safety, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has announced a new regulation prohibiting food trucks from operating within residential neighborhoods, according to Gulf News.

The ministry also banned mobile food vendors from parking near traffic lights, road intersections, or at the entrances and exits of main and secondary roads.

To further address traffic disruptions, the regulations barred trucks from operating in high-traffic areas or within 10 meters of fuel stations.

The ministry has also unveiled a set of measures to maintain public order including banning smoking and the use of loudspeakers inside food trucks.

Therefore, food truck vendors must work only within designated zones and secure the necessary approved permits.

Saudi authorities noted that the recent regulations seek to better organize the expanding mobile food sector and ensure the safety of pedestrians, motorists, and local residents.

The ministry urged businesses to swiftly abide by the new rules, emphasizing that monitoring and enforcement will be carried out in coordination with local municipalities.
