SAL Signs Agreement with Tibah Airports to Develop Air Cargo
Saudi Logistics Services Company (SAL) signed a 16-year agreement with Tibah Airports on March 21st, 2024. The aim is to construct a brand new air cargo terminal at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina. This project aligns with SAL’s vision of expanding its services across key Saudi Arabian cities.
The agreement signing ceremony was a significant event, witnessed by Prince Salman bin Sultan, Governor of Medina, and Saleh Al-Jasser, the Kingdom’s Minister of Transport and Logistics Services.

Abdulaziz Airport Expansion
At Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport, the second phase of the development and extension plan was officially opened by Medina Region Governor Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz. By the end of 2027, this project hopes to boost the airport’s capacity to accommodate 17 million passengers with a substantial expenditure of SAR 1.2 billion.
Furthermore, the ultimate goal of the project is to triple the capacity, which stands at 8 million passengers annually. To accommodate 12 million people a year, the passenger terminal for international flights must be expanded. The proposal also include constructing a brand-new passenger terminal with 3.5 million annual capacity, dedicated to domestic travel.
Project’s Significance
Engineer Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, stressed the significance of the project’s second phase inauguration. “The project has critical role in advancing the civil aviation industry, encouraging unmatched efficiency, and creating an innovative culture,” said Al-Jasser.
“The goals include improving the travel experience for Umrah performers and pilgrims, promoting economic expansion,” he stated. He added that the projects’ goal is to meet the crucial development and tourist goals outlined in the framework of Saudi Vision 2030.
