Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Saleh Al-Jasser said that investments in logistics areas in Saudi ports currently amount to 10 billion riyals.
In an interview with Al Arabiya Business, Al-Jasser also mentioned that they currently have 22 logistics zones, with a goal of expanding to 59 zones by 2030.
The Minister of Transport announced the launch of the largest logistics zone in Jeddah Islamic Port.
This announcement coincided with the inauguration by the Saudi Ports Authority “Mawani” and “Maersk” on Wednesday of the largest integrated logistics zone for Maersk in the Middle East at Jeddah Islamic Port, with investments totaling 1.3 billion riyals.
The new area, covering 225,000 square meters, offers a range of logistical solutions designed to connect and facilitate supply chain operations and handle 200,000 standard containers annually.
It also provides over 2,500 direct and indirect job opportunities. This expansion aims to streamline processes and improve efficiency in the logistics sector. Finally, the development is expected to boost the regional economy significantly.
