The Minister of Tourism, Mr. Ahmed Al-Khateeb, inaugurated the Intermediate Diploma Program in Travel and Tourism in collaboration with Jeddah University.
This initiative is part of the ministry’s efforts to enhance the development of national human resources in the tourism sector.
Moreover, it is the eighth program under the Tourism Education Initiative launched by the ministry in March 2023.
The Diploma Program aims to enhance human capabilities by providing highly skilled national personnel in the travel and tourism sector. It also offers a theoretical and practical educational experience in the fields of travel and tourism. The program extends over two academic years. It aims to familiarize students with areas that contribute to successful experiences in travel and tourism and to develop practical skills in line with labor market needs.
New Memorandum
Al-Khateeb also sponsored the Ministry of Tourism’s signing of a memorandum of cooperation with the University of Jeddah. It aims to enhance areas of joint cooperation with the aim of developing tourism human capabilities in a region that is considered to be the highest in demand for the tourism workforce.
The memorandum aims to improve cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and the University of Jeddah. It outlines frameworks and mutual interests, and establishes sustainable strategic partnerships in various areas. Moreover, these include developing human tourism capacities, creating educational programs, offering cooperative training opportunities, and organizing specialized conferences and forums.
The Tourism Education Initiative aims to develop high-quality educational programs in collaboration with leading national and international educational institutions, in order to prepare national workforce to keep up with the significant growth in the tourism sector in the Kingdom.
