The Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has launched “Clanga”, a new service designed to link King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam with numerous Singaporean and Chinese ports, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
According to the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), Clanga will boost trade connectivity between Saudi Arabia and the Far East ports with weekly voyages accommodating up to 15,000 standard containers.
The new service will directly link King Abdul Aziz Port with the following ports:
- Ningbo
- Shanghai
- Shekou
Clanga stands as a testament to the port’s commitment to fostering the competitiveness of the Saudi ports and support national exports in line with the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services.
King Abdulaziz Port achieved a promising operational performance during the first half of 2024, as follows:
- The total exported and imported containers increased by 37.40% to reach 1,534,961 standard containers, compared to 1,117,133 containers during the same period last year 2023.
- The total transshipment containers rose by 87.87% to reach 37,806 containers, compared to 20,124 containers last year.
