KSA Launches 4th Edition of ‘Walk 30’
On Saturday, Fahd Al-Jalajel, the Saudi Minister of Health, launched the fourth edition of the national initiative “Walk 30” for the year 2023 in Riyadh, KSA.
“Next year, the ‘Walk 30’ initiative will be launched,” said Al-Jalajel.
He added that the initiative exists in all regions and cities of KSA.
Moreover, he stressed that “its proceedings will continue with multiple initiatives, some of which will be with many parties.”
Initiative Goals
Al-Jalajel explained that the primary goal of the initiative is “to strengthen, modify, and have a behavioral impact on society.”
It helps people increase life expectancy, and has a role in combating multiple chronic diseases.
He pointed out that walking for 30 minutes helps combat several diseases. Some of these diseases are strokes, heart attacks, diabetes and high blood pressure.
On his part, Dr. Hisham Al-Jadhey, CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, stated in his interview with Asharq Al-Awsat that the idea of the “Walk 30” initiative is to walk for 30 minutes every day, stressing that “this is a small part of the exercise that we can do.”
Importance of Walking
He pointed out that walking stimulates blood circulation and is available to all individuals, regardless of their health conditions. It is one of the best sports.
Al-Jadhey continued that exercising and sports are essential for health, in addition to “eating healthy food with high nutritional value, and not eating foods that contain sugar, salts and fats” .
The Ministry of Health had explained that the initiative aims to promote walking 30 minutes a day, and raise public health rates by increasing the average lifespan of the population.
This aims towards building a vibrant society and achieving a better quality of life through a sustainable healthy lifestyle.
