Saudi Arabia’s Outreach to Mali
Recently, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with Mali’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zeini Moulaye, in Riyadh.
This meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to strengthen their bilateral relations.
Discussions focused on mutual interests and regional and international issues.
Notably, Prince Faisal bestowed the Order of King Abdul Aziz with Distinguished First Class upon Moulaye, recognizing his contributions to bolstering ties between the two countries.
Additionally, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Mali’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, aiming to promote Islamic teachings based on moderation and balance.
King Salman’s Interaction with Burkina Faso
King Salman received a written message from Transitional President Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso, emphasizing the desire to improve coordination on matters of mutual interest.
This interaction is part of a long-standing relationship that dates back to the 1970s when Burkina Faso and Saudi Arabia first established formal ties.
The opening of the Saudi embassy in Ouagadougou in 2002 was a significant step in solidifying this partnership.
During a meeting between Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister Apollinaire Kyélèm de Tambèla and Saudi Ambassador Fahad Aldosari, discussions focused on enhancing the already strong relationship between the two nations.
Ambassador Aldosari highlighted various Saudi projects aimed at improving the quality of life in Burkina Faso and expressed the Kingdom’s commitment to support Burkina Faso in its fight against terrorism.

Both Mali and Burkina Faso face significant security challenges, particularly in the context of terrorism in the Sahel region.
