Saudi Arabia Condemns Terrorist Attack on Niger

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist attack that took place last Monday northwest of Tabatol in Niger’s Tahoua region.


The jihadists targeted a group of security forces who were conducting a clearance operation close to the country’s borders with Mali. The homemade explosives used during the attack left 29 soldiers dead and others seriously injured. Not only did the attack kill soldiers, but it also left a number of tourists killed during the attack, according to Niger’s Defense Ministry. Following Monday’s attack, Niger’s army announced a three-day mourning period.


These attacks are not new to Niger; Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso have military governments that took power by conducting coups. Since then, all three countries have been plagued with terrorist attacks.


Saudi Arabia expressed its heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims and the state .

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the Kingdom’s unwavering support for Niger and its complete rejection of all forms of terrorism, violence and extremism with all their forms, regardless of their motives.
