Kingdom’s Weather Today: Moderate to Heavy Thunderstorms in Several Areas

The National Center of Meteorology, in its weather report for today, forecast the continued occurrence of moderate to heavy thunderstorms leading to flash floods, accompanied by active winds and hail showers in parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah regions. Meanwhile, the chance remains for the formation of rain clouds with thunderstorms, accompanied by active winds over parts of the Eastern Region, as well as the southern parts of the highlands in the Madinah region. Fog formation is also not ruled out in parts of these areas.

The center reported surface winds over the Red Sea as northerly to northwesterly at 15-40 km/h in the northern and central parts, and northwesterly to southwesterly at 10-30 km/h, reaching up to 50 km/h with rain-bearing thunderclouds in the south. Moreover, wave heights range from 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the north and center, and from 0.5 to 1 meter, exceeding 2 meters with thunderclouds in the south.

Sea conditions will have light to moderate waves in the northern and central areas, and light waves turning rough with thunderstorms and rain in the south. Surface winds over the Arabian Gulf will be north to northwest at 10-30 km/h in the north and central, and northwest to southwest at 10-25 km/h in the south, reaching 50 km/h during thunderstorms with rain in the central and southern areas. Wave height will range from 0.5 to 1 meter, rising above 2 meters with thunderstorms in the central and southern areas. Finally, the sea state will shift from light to rough in these regions during thunderstorms.
