Kingdom’s Weather for Sunday
The National Center for Meteorology in its report for today’s weather predicts the continuation of moderate to heavy thunderstorms leading to flash floods.
It’ll be accompanied by hail showers and active dusty winds in parts of the Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, Mecca, Medina, Hail, Al Jouf, Northern Borders, Qassim, Riyadh, and Eastern regions.
Fog formation is also expected in parts of these areas.
Surface Wind Movement
The report also notes that the surface wind movement on the Red Sea will be southwesterly to northwesterly at speeds of 20-40 km/h in the northern and central parts, and southerly to southwesterly, gradually turning westerly at speeds of 20-40 km/h in the southern part, reaching over 50 km/h.
Wave heights will range from one to two meters, reaching more than two and a half meters with the rainy thunder clouds, and the sea state will be from light to moderate.
Meanwhile, the surface wind movement on the Arabian Gulf will be southerly to southwesterly at speeds of 15-35 km/h in the northern part and northeasterly at speeds of 10-20 km/h in the southern part, reaching over 50 km/h .
Wave heights will range from half a meter to one and a half meters, reaching up to two and a half meters .
The formation of rainy thunder clouds, and the sea state will be from light to moderate, becoming rough with the thunder clouds.
Winter Weather, Activities
Winter, peaking between December and January, brings average temperatures around 20°C, though it can drop near zero in some areas. Rainfall is more frequent, and there’s a possibility of snow in mountainous regions.
Layered clothing is advised to adjust to varying temperatures. Winters are ideal for outdoor activities like horse-riding, sandboarding, and visiting race tracks in Riyadh.
