India’s PM Modi to Visit Israel on Feb. 25

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, will arrive in Israel on Wednesday and deliver a speech in the Knesset, according to AFP.

“The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, will arrive here; he will deliver a speech in the Knesset, and I’m sure you will all be there,” Netanyahu said Sunday at the opening of a cabinet meeting.

The visit will mark a significant diplomatic engagement between the two nations, with Netanyahu commending the deepening relationship between India and Israel.

“The fabric of relations has grown tighter, and (Modi) is coming here so that we can tighten it even more,” he added.

The visit also comes just days after India took a decisive step, joining more than 100 other nations that condemned Israel’s de facto expansion in the occupied West Bank.

In September, the two countries signed a bilateral agreement designed to streamline mutual investment flows and boost economic cooperation.

“This is a strategic step that will open new doors for both Israeli and Indian investors, strengthen Israeli exports, and provide businesses on both sides with certainty and tools to develop in the world’s fastest-growing markets,” said Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.

The trip comes exactly nine years after Modi’s landmark 2017 visit, the first ever by a sitting Indian prime minister to Israel.
