El-Kuwaiz Says during Misk Global Forum: “If You Want to Invest, Start Early”
Mr. Mohammed El-Kuwaiz, Chairman of the Capital Market Authority, urged young participants at the 2024 Misk Global Forum to enter the financial market early. He highlighted that starting early helps correct mistakes and advised them to begin with small, diversified investments. Gaining knowledge, he noted, builds confidence and improves risk management.
From Youth, For Youth
During a session at the eighth edition of the forum, held under the theme “From Youth, For Youth,” He highlighted the significance of the financial market in achieving the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly in diversifying the economy. This vision requires the development of new sectors, cities, and investments. He also explained that the importance of the financial market lies in its role as a tool for mobilizing the savings of young men and women in Saudi Arabia and around the world to fund projects and ideas.
“Thameen” Program
Regarding programs aimed at raising awareness among members of society about the financial market, His Excellency highlighted the “Thameen” program—an initiative of the Capital Market Authority—to educate young men and women investors in the market. The program offers various educational materials in both written and visual formats to guide individuals in dealing with investments. It also includes a program to host university students, organizing field visits to universities either through the Authority or in collaboration with financial market institutions. This enhances understanding of investments and explore potential career opportunities in the sector. Furthermore, a Gulf-wide “Smart Investor” competition is held, alongside the “Demo Portfolio” feature provided on the Tadawul website. Moreover, this feature allows individuals to open a demo portfolio and start trading in the market using virtual money, building confidence and knowledge to eventually transition to real investments, God willing.
