Brazil to Host Next BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro
Brazil has confirmed that Rio de Janeiro will be the venue for the upcoming BRICS summit, scheduled for July.
Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira emphasized that the summit will focus on making key decisions aimed at advancing development, strengthening cooperation, and improving the quality of life for citizens across the member countries.
The BRICS bloc was originally formed in 2009 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with South Africa joining in 2010. In 2024, the group expanded to include Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Ethiopia. Additionally, Turkiye, Azerbaijan, and Malaysia have officially applied for membership.
