The General Authority for Competition (GAC) concluded its participation in the Seoul International Competition Forum, held in the Republic of Korea from September 3–5. Alongside the forum, the delegation also attended specialized workshops and bilateral meetings over the following two days.
Led by GAC CEO Dr. Fahad Alshathri, the delegation took part in a high-level panel discussion titled “Specific Issues in the Digital Sector: E-Commerce and OTT Services.” During the session, Dr. Alshathri outlined the Kingdom’s national experience in regulating competition in digital markets. He highlighted GAC’s key initiatives, including oversight of the food delivery application sector and a comprehensive study on cross-border e-commerce and its impact on local retailers.

As part of the visit, Dr. Alshathri also held a bilateral meeting with the Korea Fair Trade Commission to explore opportunities for cooperation, share regulatory expertise, and coordinate on areas of mutual interest.
The delegation further engaged with international organizations, including the OECD Regional Centre for Competition (Policy Support Centre), by participating in a specialized workshop dedicated to digital markets.

Through its active role in Seoul, GAC reaffirmed the Kingdom’s leadership in advancing competitive policies, strengthened its global presence, and underscored its commitment to shaping the future of digital market regulation—supporting consumer welfare while fostering a fair and dynamic business environment.
