Port of NEOM’s New Land Bridge Cements Saudi Arabia as Vital GCC-Europe Link

Port of NEOM has launched a new multimodal land bridge connecting Europe, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Developed in collaboration between the Port of NEOM, Pan Marine, and DFDS, the Europe-Egypt-NEOM-GCC corridor provides a faster and more flexible route for European cargo entering regional markets.

According to NEOM, the new corridor combines trucking and ferry‑based freight services, significantly accelerating the movement of time-sensitive cargo and offering a reliable alternative for traditional shipping routes.

Strategically located on the Red Sea, the corridor is fully operational, providing predictable and efficient market entry for customers. Importers from several European countries including Italy, the UK, Germany, and Poland are actively using it for direct access into the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, the wider GCC, and Iraq.

This new route scales up a successful pilot that linked Egypt’s Port of Safaga with the Port of NEOM and northern Saudi Arabia. By cutting transit times by more than half compared to traditional sea routes, the trial proved that integrated sea-and-land logistics are a game-changer for time-sensitive cargo.

“By linking European networks with Red Sea and overland gateways, Port of NEOM and its partners are strengthening established regional cargo flows and enabling a dependable alternative for customers navigating evolving logistics requirements,” NEOM said in a press release.

“Strategically located on the Red Sea and near key inland corridors, Port of NEOM continues to expand its role as a stable regional hub supporting efficient cargo movement between Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East,” it added.
