Watermelon is highly valued for its significant nutritional content and large amounts of water, which help meet an individual’s hydration needs. At the same time, it is considered a symbol of refreshment and relaxation during the summer, especially with rising temperatures, making it an ideal essential for moments of rest and leisure.

The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture announced that the Kingdom’s watermelon self-sufficiency rate reached 99% this year. This success is due to the Ministry’s support through programs like the Sustainable Rural Development Program “Reef.” The Ministry also organized festivals, events, and educational initiatives to boost farmers’ knowledge of watermelon cultivation. The Kingdom’s annual watermelon production hit 605,000 tons, spanning 24,000 hectares.
