Third Al-Athri Watermelon Festival
The “Al-Athri Watermelon Festival” is set to kick off tomorrow, Sunday, at the South Corniche waterfront, under the patronage of Al-Laith Governor Omran bin Hassan Al-Zahrani. The event will last for two days. Notably, the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture in the Mecca region spearheads the organization of the event.
The festival, now in its third iteration, is eagerly anticipated by the residents of Al-Laith. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Khalif, the Director-General of the Ministry in Mecca, highlighted the extensive preparations underway to ensure the festival’s success.
Al-Athri Watermelon Festival: Festival for Community
The festival will host a watermelon exhibition alongside a variety of entertainment, cultural, and social programs suitable for families and community members alike. Moreover, the event will organize specialized workshops focusing on organic farming. The festival will feature experts and provide space for organic farmers and local producers interested in sustainable agriculture practices.

Yahya bin Abdul Rahman Al Mahabi, the Director of the Ministry’s office in Al-Laith, emphasized the festival’s role in supporting local farmers. The event aims to promote their products, boost watermelon crop production, and highlight Al-Laith’s comparative advantage in watermelon cultivation. Additionally, Al Mahabi reflected on the success of the first and second editions of the “Al-Athri Watermelon Festival”. The previous events garnered significant acclaim and success in Al-Laith. In return, this solidified its status as a key event in promoting local agriculture and community engagement.

Furthermore, the Al-Athri Watermelon Festival highlights the agricultural prowess and innovations of local farmers.
