UNESCO Announces Growth in Solar Research in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia Leads in Solar Energy Research
An analytical report conducted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has revealed that Arab countries in the Middle East and North Africa excel in their contribution to academic research on photovoltaic cells (cells used to convert solar energy into usable electric power).
The report underscores the region’s escalating share in global scientific publications in renewable energy fields, with a strong emphasis on solar energy.
Saudi Arabia Leads in Solar Energy Research
According to UNESCO’s findings, Saudi Arabia is at the forefront of publishing scientific reports and research on solar energy. Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, and Iraq also make significant contributions in this field. These nations are demonstrating a robust performance in the solar energy sector.
Global Share of Solar Photovoltaic Research Publications
UNESCO’s analysis showed Arab nations almost doubling their global academic articles on solar energy to nearly 8% by the decade’s end. Consequently, this marked an increase from 4.6% mid-decade, illustrating the region’s rising influence and dedication to solar research. Furthermore, the growth in academic work highlights the region’s aim to boost solar energy use.
