
A total of 28 universities in the Kingdom are competing in the National Artificial Intelligence Competition, “Azka U,” organized by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) in partnership with Microsoft. The competition aims to build the capacities of university students in adopting data and AI technologies, enhancing their knowledge and skills to become globally competitive.
The competition has intensified among male and female university students across the Kingdom as they strive to excel in this national event. The initiative encourages them to enhance their skills in data and AI, positioning them as national role models in international forums. It also equips them with the knowledge to use AI applications, preparing them for a future shaped by rapid advancements in artificial intelligence.
“Azka U ” Competition
The “Azka U” competition aims to develop students’ skills in artificial intelligence and enhance their personal and practical capabilities. Additionally, it seeks to discover talented individuals and enable them to compete globally in Microsoft’s “Imagine Cup” competition. The competition provides opportunities to transform students’ ideas into innovative solutions using artificial intelligence technologies.
The first phase of the competition, which began on November 24, will conclude on December 10, with 84 teams qualifying for the next round. The second phase will begin on December 11 and continue until January 5, during which contestants will compete based on the criteria of the Azka U and Imagine Cup competitions. Thirty teams will advance to the final phase, which will take place from January 12 to 13. During the final phase, participants will compete for the top 10 positions, and the winners of the Azka U will be honored.
Imagine Cup competition
The winning teams are scheduled to qualify for participation in the 2025 Imagine Cup competition, to be held globally in Seattle, USA, where they will compete against winners from various participating countries for the global title. Moreover, the competition includes specialized mentorship sessions and support for students to apply their skills in the field of artificial intelligence.
SDAIA
Through its partnership with Microsoft, SDAIA aims to use this competition to build national capabilities in Saudi Arabian universities, in line with Saudi Vision 2030. Finally, the goal is to equip students with advanced knowledge in data and AI, preparing them to handle technological advancements and apply them across various professions and fields.
