The “Wasouf” geospatial portal, affiliated with the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, has won the award for Best Geospatial Application.
This achievement contributes to the development of the national geospatial infrastructure by encouraging government sectors, private entities and effective applications that rely on geospatial data.
The CEO of the Royal Commission in Yanbu, Engineer Abdul Hadi Al-Juhani, received the award during the National Geospatial Platform Forum 2024. It was organized by the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information.
The “Wasouf” Geospatial Gateway, launched in September, is an electronic portal linked to the National Geospatial Platform and pulls data from the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu’s geographic databases. Its main goal is to connect information, data, or documents about the industrial city with their spatial context, using interactive maps for easy location identification.
It also supports project tracking through all stages—from design to operation—and monitors asset maintenance data and contract status. Additionally, the gateway also provides data on urban elements like roads, infrastructure, and high-resolution aerial and satellite images.
