The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia has intensified its practical training program for volunteers preparing for the 2026 AFC U-23 Asian Cup, marking the final phase of readiness ahead of the tournament’s seventh edition. The competition will take place in the Kingdom from January 6 to 24, bringing together 16 Asian national teams across venues in Riyadh and Jeddah.
Operational training sessions were conducted at the four host stadiums: Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports City Stadium and Al-Shabab Club Stadium in Riyadh, as well as Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sports City Stadium and the auxiliary pitch at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
The sessions focused on enhancing operational readiness, familiarizing volunteers with venue layouts, and simulating match-day scenarios, following the completion of their general and specialized theoretical training.

More than 600 volunteers participated in the drills, refining their roles, movement routes within stadiums, and coordination protocols to ensure efficient and seamless operations during the tournament. Venue tours also covered fan zones, team and media areas, and support facilities, reinforcing volunteers’ preparedness across all operational areas.
To further motivate participants, the LOC introduced the “Volunteer Passport” initiative, which is stamped for each successfully completed assignment during committee events. The initiative also promotes a sense of belonging and sustained engagement, allowing volunteers to build a comprehensive record of experience leading up to the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

LOC
The LOC continues to develop its volunteering program by adopting international best practices and empowering young Saudi talent. Volunteers remain a cornerstone of successful major sporting events and a key contributor to building a vibrant society in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
Finally, the 2026 AFC U-23 Asian Cup serves as a critical milestone on the road to hosting the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, offering a valuable platform to test operational frameworks, enhance workforce readiness, and strengthen national expertise in delivering world-class continental and international tournaments.
