Asian Football Confederation invites interest to host Asian Cup 2023

The Asian Football Confederation announced on Tuesday that it has opened the door to all Asian federations for the possibility of bidding to host the 2023 AFC Asian Cup. 

China had previously withdrawn from hosting the tournament due to the repercussions of the outbreak of the Corona virus in the country. 

 Asian Football Confederation published in an official statement on Tuesday that the deadline for submitting an application to host the 2023 AFC Asian Cup is June 30, 2022, 

 the AFC announced China’s apology for not hosting the 2023 Asian CupOn May 14 

The tournament was scheduled to be held in 10 Chinese cities from June 16 to July 16, 2023, with the participation of 24 teams. 

According to information leaked by the Nikkei Sports newspaper on Tuesday, Japan could be at the forefront of the candidates who want to host the 2023 Asian Cup, 

The AFC has made some contacts with Japanese officials in order to try to reach an agreement to nominate and host the major sporting event

China (as the former host), Japan, Syria, Qatar, South Korea, Australia, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Vietnam, and Lebanon have all qualified for the competition, which has a total of 24 teams. 

According to the pool system, the third round qualifiers will take place between June 8 and 14.
