Saudi Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz held pivotal talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Sunday during his official visit to Cairo.
The discussions focused on bolstering bilateral relations and enhancing security cooperation.
Saudi Arabia’s Commitment to Egypt’s Progress
During the meeting, Prince Abdulaziz conveyed greetings from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to President Sisi. He expressed Saudi Arabia’s sincere wishes for Egypt’s continued progress and prosperity.
Enhancing Security Collaboration
Prince Abdulaziz also met with his Egyptian counterpart, Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq. Their discussions aimed at strengthening security cooperation, reflecting the deep-rooted ties between Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Both ministers explored ways to combat crime, track offenders, and tackle international drug trafficking networks. The talks also covered counterterrorism efforts and increased collaboration on combating cybercrime, a growing concern in recent months.
Strategic Regional Alliances
The visit is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader diplomatic initiative to fortify regional alliances. Both Cairo and Riyadh have been closely cooperating on regional conflicts, including the Gaza war, and the civil wars in Sudan and Libya.
High-Level Participation
The meetings included several high-ranking officials, such as Dr. Essam bin Saad bin Saeed, Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet, and Dr. Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al-Faleh, Assistant Minister of Interior. The Saudi Ambassador to Egypt, Saleh bin Eid Al-Hussaini, also attended, along with senior security officials.
This visit underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthening their security partnership and addressing shared regional challenges.
