Against the backdrop of the recent developments in Syria, the Saudi Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Sunday, saying that Saudi Arabia “is closely monitoring the rapid developments in Syria and expresses its satisfaction with steps taken to stop the bloodshed, and preserve Syria’s state institutions and capacities.”
Moreover, the Kingdom stressed its unwavering support for the Syrian people and their choices at this critical stage in Syria’s history, calling for unifying efforts to preserve the unity of Syria and its people and protect the country from descending into chaos and division.
It also emphasized support for all measures that aim at achieving Syria’s security and stability while preserving its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.

In the light of Israel’s seizure of the demilitarized buffer zone in the Syrian-controlled part of the Golan Heights and carrying out airstrikes against targets inside Syria, the Saudi Foreign Ministry issued another statement on Monday condemning these actions.
The statement said that these assaults “confirm Israel’s continued violation of the principles of international law, and its determination to sabotage Syria’s chances of restoring its security, stability and territorial integrity.”
Furthermore, the statement said that “Saudi Arabia stresses the need for the international community to condemn these Israeli violations, and emphasize respect for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and that the Golan is occupied Syrian Arab land.”
