Saudi Arabia said it is following the situation in Syria and welcomed the positive steps taken to ensure the safety of Syrian people, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.
In a statement, the Ministry said that the Kingdom “is closely monitoring the rapid developments in Syria.” It expressed satisfaction with steps taken to stop the bloodshed, and preserve Syria’s state institutions and capacities.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia emphasized its unwavering support for the Syrian people and their choices at this critical stage in Syria’s history, calling for unifying efforts to preserve the unity of Syria and its people and protect the country from descending into chaos and division.
The Kingdom also stressed support for all measures that aim at achieving Syria’s security and stability while preserving its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.

Moreover, Saudi Arabia called the international community to stand by the Syrian people and cooperate with them to the benefit of Syria and the aspirations of its people, without interfering in Syria’s internal affairs.
The Kingdom also called for providing support to Syria in this critical juncture to help it overcome the woes endured by its people over the past several years. “The prolonged crisis has claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians, displaced millions, and witnessed foreign militias attempting to impose external agendas on the Syrian people,” the statement added.
“It is time for Syrian people to enjoy the dignified life they deserve. All segments of society must work together to shape a prosperous future marked by security, stability and progress,” the statement said, hoping for Syria to return to its rightful status in the Arab and Islamic worlds.
