Syrian Air will resume its flights between Damascus International Airport and King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah starting from Thursday, November 7.
According to the Syrian News Agency, there will be two flights per week, on Mondays and Thursdays.
Director General of Syrian Airlines Hatem Kabbas announced that the resumption of the service will facilitate transportation and air aviation between Syria and Saudi Arabia.
Kabbas also urges those who are willing to book flight tickets to directly contact the offices of Syrian Airlines.
Interestingly, both countries have made bold strides in various fields to enhance the Saudi-Syrian relations.
For example, the first flight of Syrian Airlines arrived at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh in July 2024 after a hiatus of 8 years.
To celebrate such an exceptional event, Riyadh Airports Company hosted a special ceremony highlighting the presence of Syrian Ambassador in Riyadh, Ayman Sousan, and Saudi officials from the General Authority of Civil Aviation.
Crucially, the Kingdom agreed to restore consular services with Syria in April 2023. Consequently, they restored full diplomatic relations in May 2023 after 12 years.
In May 2024, the Kingdom nominated Dr. Faisal bin Saud Al-Mujfel as KSA’s Ambassador to Syria. Meanwhile, Syria’s new Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Soussan assumed charge in Riyadh in January 2024.
