Saudi FM Pushes for Middle East Stability at Munich Security Conference 2026
In a series of high-level discussions at the Munich Security Conference 2026 (MSC 2026), Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan underscored the Kingdom’s role as a regional stabilizer, calling for decisive international action to secure regional peace.
Prince Faisal also used the flagship security event to hold discussions with senior regional and foreign diplomats on the most pressing issues, exploring ways to achieve global security and stability.
Saudi Arabia at MSC 2026
Prince Faisal spearheaded Saudi Arabia’s delegation to the MSC 2026 in Germany. Throughout the event’s sessions, the Kingdom’s delegation discussed pressing regional and international developments, as well as challenges to global security and stability.
The high-level delegation included Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member, and Climate Envoy Adel Al-Jubeir; Governor of the National Cybersecurity Authority Majed Al-Mazyed; and CEO of the Strategic Defense Studies and Research Center Major General Fahad Al-Otaibi.
Held from February 13 to 15, 2026 in Munich, the 62nd edition of the MSC convened decision-makers, heads of State and government, and opinion leaders from around the world for high-level discussions on the key foreign and security policy challenges.
Championing Middle East Peace
As part of his participation in the MSC 2026, the Saudi Foreign Minister reiterated the Kingdom’s support for security and stability in the Middle East.

In light of this, Prince Faisal took part in a panel discussion titled “Building Momentum in the Middle East: From Promise to Progress.” The session discussed the recent developments in the region, most notably the war in Gaza and its humanitarian and security repercussions.
Furthermore, it explored ways to consolidate the foundations of regional peace and stability and advance development across the Middle East, stressing the significance of supporting the Two-State solution.
The session also reaffirmed the need to strengthen Syria’s security and economic stability, coordinate international efforts to de-escalate tensions, and foster conditions conducive to sustainable political solutions that guarantee stability and bolster human and economic development.
Several senior diplomats participated in the session, including Syria’s Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani; Norway’s Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide; Gaza Executive Board member and UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza Sigrid Kaag; and Vice President of the MSC and President of the European Institute of Peace Helga Schmid.
Advocating for Palestinian Rights
In another panel discussion Prince Faisal bin Farhan stressed Saudi Arabia’s steadfast support for Palestinian right to self-determination, emphasizing the unity of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Speaking at a session titled “Breaking Point: The International Order Between Reform and Destruction,” the Saudi Foreign Minister highlighted the challenges facing the ceasefire in Gaza, including the agreement violations and continued deaths due to the lack of adequate aid delivery.

Additionally, he noted that the UN Resolution adopted to establish the Gaza Board of Peace included a clear language that addressed the Palestinians right to self-determination. Thus, the Kingdom, alongside other countries on the Board, views this as a step on the path toward Palestinian self-determination, Prince Faisal said.
He outlined key priorities for Gaza: halting the violence immediately, stabilizing the situation, initiating reconstruction, ensuring the Strip no longer poses a threat to its neighbors, and ultimately addressing Palestinian rights.
Stabilizing the situation in the Strip is key to maintaining the unity of the West Bank and Gaza and addressing the Palestinian rights holistically, he noted.
In addition to Prince Faisal, the panel discussion saw the participation of Colombia’s Minister of Defense Pedro Arnulfo Sanchez Suarez; US Representative to the UN Michael Waltz; and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas.

On the sidelines of the MSC 2026, Prince Faisal held bilateral meetings with senior diplomats to discuss the latest regional and international developments and explore avenues for advancing security and stability.
In this context, the Saudi Foreign Minister met with the High Representative for the Gaza Board of Peace, Nickolay Mladenov, to discuss efforts made toward addressing the recent developments in the Strip.

He also met with the US Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos. The two officials discussed efforts to promote security and stability in the Middle East and the world.
Moreover, Saudi Arabia’s top diplomat held a meeting with the US Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism, Yehuda Kaploun, during which they reviewed efforts to promote the values of dialogue and tolerance, and combat extremism. They also emphasized the importance of advancing mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence.
