Washington to Host Inaugural Gaza Board of Peace Meeting This February

The US is planning to host the first leaders meeting for the newly-inaugurated “Board of Peace” on February 19, 2026 in Washington, Axios reported citing a US official and diplomats from four board member countries.

According to initial plans, the meeting, which will also serve as a fundraising event for Gaza reconstruction, will take place at the US Institute of Peace in Washington.

Axios also noted that the Board of Peace meeting will take place a day after a scheduled meeting between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.

On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos two weeks ago, Trump officially launched the Board of Peace, with the participation of around 35 countries including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye.

The Board of Peace, chaired by Trump himself, was established to oversee the transitional governance in Gaza and form an international stabilization force to demilitarize the Strip, in line with Trump’s 20-point peace plan adopted by a UN Security Council Resolution in November.

However, Trump later suggested that the international body’s role could extend beyond Gaza to resolve global conflicts. “Once this board is completely formed, we can do pretty much whatever we want to do. And we’ll do it in conjunction with the United Nations. We’re going to have peace in the world,” Trump said during the signing ceremony.

Hungary’s Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, emerged as the first leader to confirm attendance in the Board of Peace’s inaugural meeting, according to AFP.

“Two weeks from now we will meet again in Washington, because the Board of Peace, the peace body, will have an inaugural meeting,” Orban told a campaign event in the western town of Szombathely on Saturday.
