Saudi Embassy in Lebanon Urges Immediate Departure

The Saudi Embassy in Lebanon has issued a statement urging Saudi citizens in the country to abide by the travel advisory and leave immediately. The embassy is closely monitoring the situation, particularly in south Lebanon, and is advising all citizens to adhere to the travel ban and evacuate Lebanese territory as soon as possible.

Escalation of Tensions

The call for immediate departure comes in the wake of recent events in the region. Following the Hamas attacks on Israel, there have been cross-border exchanges between Palestinian factions inside Lebanon and Israeli forces. These exchanges have resulted in Israeli retaliatory strikes against Hezbollah targets, leading to further escalation of tensions.

Hezbollah, a Lebanese political and military organization, has retaliated against the Israeli strikes, resulting in the reported deaths of at least ten Hezbollah militants. The situation remains unpredictable and volatile, prompting several countries, including the United States, to issue travel advisories and warnings to their citizens.

International Travel Advisories

The United States, on Tuesday, warned American citizens against traveling to Lebanon due to the unpredictable security situation in the country. The State Department has also authorized the departure of non-emergency government personnel. The travel advisories issued by various countries highlight the seriousness of the situation and the potential risks associated with staying in Lebanon at this time.

Saudi Arabia’s Concern for its Citizens

The Saudi Embassy in Lebanon is deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of its citizens in the country. The embassy’s statement emphasizes the importance of adhering to the travel ban and leaving Lebanese territory immediately. This advisory is in line with the Saudi government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens both domestically and abroad.

Cooperation and Support

Amid the escalating tensions, Saudi Arabia continues to engage with other countries to promote cooperation and support in addressing the situation. Saudi Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al-Khateeb, recently chaired the 119th session of the Executive Council of the UN World Tourism Organization. The meeting, held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, focused on enhancing cooperation, promoting sustainable tourism, and implementing best practices in the sector.

During the UNWTO General Assembly, Minister Al-Khateeb held meetings with key representatives from Morocco, Uzbekistan, and Argentina to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and support in the tourism sector. These efforts reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment to diversifying its economy and boosting tourism as part of its Vision 2030 goals.
