Gaza: Saudi Arabia Condemns Israel’s Attack on Baptist Hospital
Saudi Arabia denounced the “heinous crime” of Israel bombing a hospital in Gaza, leaving hundreds killed and injured.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry said that the Kingdom “strongly condemns the heinous crime of the Israeli Occupational Forces bombing Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, which led to the death of hundreds of civilians”.
Health authorities in Gaza announced that an Israeli airstrike on Tuesday left 500 Palestinians killed at a hospital that was exploding with displaced people and patients.
After the evacuating south, many displaced people sought refuge at this hospital, thinking it was a safe place.
The Saudi ministry added that it “categorically rejects this brutal act that is a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms, including International Humanitarian Law”.
Furthermore, it denounced that Israel did not stop its continuous attacks against civilians despite many international appeals.
“This dangerous development forces the international community to abandon double standards and selectivity in applying international humanitarian law when it comes to Israeli criminal practices. It requires a serious and firm stance to provide protection for defenceless civilians,” stated the ministry.
KSA stressed that safe corridors to transfer food and medicine to Gaza are a necessity and said that it holds Israel accountable for continuously violating the international laws and norms.
Global Condemnation
The attack provoked global condemnation from Russia, Egypt, France, UN Secretary General, UAE, Kuwait, Muslim World League, Qatar, Turkey, EU Chief, Canada and World Health Organization.
Palestine and Israel Pointing Fingers at Each Other
Palestinian health authorities blame Israel for the attack, saying that it was caused by an Israeli airstrike, while Israel’s military claims that the Palestinian militant group is responsible for this due to a failed rocket launch.
Gaza: From Open-Air Prison to World’s Largest Grave
Gaza, the so-called open-air prison is on its way to upgrade and be the world’s biggest grave.
Under International Humanitarian Law, hospitals should be protected from any attacks during wartime. Attacks on hospitals are, for obvious reasons, one of the ” six grave violations” condemned by UN Security Council. However, what is International Humanitarian Law or “grave violations” when it comes to Gaza?
Gaza is the hellhole where all these rules and laws stand at its borders. A Bermuda Triangle that upon entering, one can’t find any traces of laws that might give an ounce of respect to humans there.
Following the bloody bombardment of Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, videos show the hospital burning with flames, eating up what’s left of the hospital and the dead- body- studded area around it.
As if cutting water, electricity, food and internet, bombing residential buildings, evacuating whole families in less than 24 hours and bombing their flee route were not enough. This had to topped with bombing a hospital full of people whose lives were hanging on a thread; the cherry on top of the dead- bodies cake.
As if the white- shrouded bodies lining on top of the grey rubble that once made Gaza were not enough.
Only in Gaza going to the hospital can be the one wrong decision that might kill you.
