KSA, France, Iran Hold Phone Calls to Discuss Gaza
Against the backdrop of recent events in Gaza and Israel, the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman got a phone call from French President Emmanuel Macron and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to discuss the situation in Gaza.
The humanitarian disaster in an Arab country was the sole reason the Saudi Crown Prince and Iranian President hold talks for the first time since a deal in March to resume ties.
Content of Phone Calls
During both phone calls, the leaders discussed the ongoing military escalation in Gaza and surrounding areas.
Salman stressed the importance of discussing ways to stop military operations which result in killing innocent people.
Ramping up efforts and contacting all regional and international parties, KSA is working to de-escalate the current situation and respect International Humanitarian Law through lifting of the siege of Gaza and paving the way for re-establishing stability and getting back on the path to peace so that the Palestinian people can get their legitimate rights and establish just and lasting peace, affirmed the Crown Prince.
He asserted the Kingdom’s refusal of targeting civilians in any way or disrupting the infrastructure and vital facilities that affect their everyday lives.
He voiced his deep concern regarding the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the lives of its citizens. He affirmed the Kingdom’s pro-Palestine steadfast stance and said that the Kingdom supports all peace-seeking efforts that will guarantee the Palestinian people their legitimate rights.
What Is Happening in Gaza and Israel?
Hamas militants hang glided into Israel and started attacking Israelis, killing them and holding captives.
The Israeli death toll rose to 1200. Going tit for tat, Israel has been bombing Gaza, leaving 974 killed and 5000 injured.
Furthermore, it ordered full siege of Gaza, depriving it of electricity, fuel and water.
