Saudi Arabia, Singapore Strengthen Ties by Signing 7 MoUs

 

The third session of the Saudi-Singapore Joint Committee held in Riyadh on Tuesday marked a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Singapore.

During the session, seven Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, covering various sectors and signaling a commitment to strengthen business ties and enhance cooperation.

The session was co-chaired by Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, and Dr. Tan See Leng, Singapore’s Minister of Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry.

Strengthening Business Ties

One of the key agreements reached was the signing of an MoU between the Federation of Saudi Chambers and the Singapore Business Forum.

This agreement highlights the commitment of both countries to foster stronger business relationships and explore new avenues for collaboration.

Facilitating Investments and Cooperation

The Ministry of Investment also inked an MoU aimed at fostering cooperation and facilitating investments between Singaporean and Saudi companies.

This agreement aims to create a favorable environment for business investments, promote joint ventures, and facilitate the exchange of technology and innovation.

Training and Development Opportunities

The agreements signed during the session also encompassed training and development opportunities within the Kingdom.

Both countries expressed their commitment to enhancing skills and knowledge exchange in various sectors, including technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Advancing Connectivity and Logistical Efficiency

Two MoUs were signed in the fields of ports, transportation, and logistics services.

These agreements aim to enhance cooperation in areas such as port operations, logistics infrastructure development, and supply chain management.

By leveraging each other’s expertise, Saudi Arabia and Singapore can further optimize their transportation networks and streamline trade flows.

Promoting Growth in Key Sectors

In addition to the aforementioned agreements, an agreement was reached to develop investment in Riyadh’s industrial sector and promote growth in the health and fitness sectors.

These agreements signify the commitment of both countries to foster economic diversification and explore new opportunities for investment and growth.

Positive Impact of Previous Agreements

Minister Al-Jasser emphasized the robust bilateral relationship between Saudi Arabia and Singapore, which spans almost six decades.

He highlighted the positive impact of previous agreements, noting a notable 50% increase in the trade volume between the two nations in 2022, reaching approximately SR45.2 billion.

These achievements serve as a testament to the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation and set the stage for further collaboration in economic, investment, and commercial spheres.

Broadening the Scope of Collaboration

Minister Al-Jasser expressed eagerness to expand cooperation in various areas, including infrastructure, transport, logistics services, financing, investment, energy, industry, the digital economy, tourism, culture, and social sectors.

This comprehensive approach reflects the shared vision of both countries to diversify their economies, embrace innovation, and create sustainable growth opportunities.

By broadening the scope of collaboration, Saudi Arabia and Singapore can strengthen their ties and build a prosperous future together.
