Saudi Deputy FM Meets Sudan’s Sovereign Council Chairman

The Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji, met Monday with the Chairman of the Sovereign Council of Sudan, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Al-Burhan received the Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Port Sudan. During the reception, Al-Khuraiji conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

In their meeting, Al-Khuraiji underscored Saudi Arabia leadership’s support for the return of peace and stability to Sudan. He noted that this requires de-escalation and self-restraint, in addition to a keenness to resume negotiations, showing flexibility and being responsive to positive and humanitarian initiatives.

Furthermore, the Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed to the Chairman of the Sovereign Council of Sudan the Kingdom’s support for all efforts that would advance the outcomes of the Jeddah Declaration.

Al-Khuraiji confirmed Saudi Arabia’s welcome and support for all UN and international efforts that aim to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Sudan, as well as the humanitarian efforts that aim to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.

Sudan is facing a dire humanitarian crisis as a result of the ongoing conflict. Saudi Arabia, under King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), has been providing aid and humanitarian support for the most needy and displaced people in Sudan. Moreover, KSrelief inaugurated 3 health projects in Sudan.
