The Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, spoke with the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, on Monday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
During the phone call, Prince Mohammed bin Salman congratulated Starmer on his appointment as the new Prime Minister of Britain.
Furthermore, the Crown Prince and the British Prime Minister praised the distinguished relations between both countries and their friendly peoples. They also discussed efforts to bolster and develop relations in all fields.
According to the Downing Street statement, Starmer thanked the Saudi Crown Prince for his congratulations on his election victory, and reported on his first days of government.
Moreover, both leaders discussed the situation in the Middle East. The British Prime Minister commended Saudi Arabia’s leadership role in supporting regional stability. He also underscored Britain’s enduring commitment to peace and security in the region.
Additionally, the Saudi Crown Prince and the British Prime Minister highlighted the strong relationship between both countries, including through the Strategic Partnership Council.
The leaders expressed their desire to work together to strengthen areas of shared interest, including trade, investment and defense cooperation. The statement added that they look forward to meeting soon.
The Strategic Partnership Council was established in 2018 to boost relations between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom and to commit to a deeper and more strategic partnership to advance mutual interests. The Council is based on two main pillars: Economic and Social; and Political and Security.
